Welcome to my frequently asked questions about my em”bar”dery series;
THE most frequently asked question is
How did I come up with the idea?
In August 2025 I was traveling in Helsinki Finland for work and I often bring cross stitch and embroideries with me. I was working on an embroidery piece for a friend at a restaraunt and I had gotten a limoncello spritz with dinner and I thought “oh that would be really cute to embroider” and the idea kinda spiraled from there. I made a list of bars that I thought would be fun to try out, obviously the series has already grown so much since August and it really took on a life of its own!
How did you come up with the name?
I did not, I was so torn on what to call this series I wanted a pun and I was having trouble coming up with an idea and my boyfriend came up with the name pretty on the spot when I asked for suggestions!
Do you get free drinks because of the series?
This is a mix, sometimes when I’m embroidering at the bar, and they see it and I explain the series I do get comped a drink it’s not all the time and it’s not something I seek out but it’s always appreciated! Sometimes bars do ask me to come and offer comped drinks in exchange so I’d say it’s a 50/50 mix!
Do the bars know you’re coming?
Most of the time no, some bars have reached out and asked me to come and in that case I will let them know if I’m swinging by but I usually just go through my list and try to pick where I’m going to embroider that week!
Do I start the pieces at the bar? Absolutely not. I would not be able to survive if I tried to start and finish a piece at the bar 😂 I usually start and prep them beforehand and I try to leave enough work for me to do where I can finish the piece at the bar
How long do the pieces take?
This varies on the logo or design I would say the quickest one took an hour and other ones that require paint and marker can take much longer! the longest piece took me about 10 hours total not consecutive I tend to work on these on my commute which helps!
How do I embroider the logos?
I usually print what I’m going to embroider, this could be a logo, this could be a specialty drink from the bar etc. and then I prep a document with a few other bars logos and print it onto stick n stitch paper. I love it. It stabilizes the embroidery, I can follow the design to the exact details and then when I’m done embroidering, the paper dissolves in warm water and I use a toothbrush to also gently get the sticky pieces away
What do I do with the pieces after?
I give them to the bar and what’s been incredible is seeing so many of my pieces hung up at different bars! I just dropped off my 158 em”bar”dery and I can’t wait to continue this series!
What is my your favorite part of the series?
What was very unexpected to me was the community I’ve been building with this series. I have made so many beautiful connections through this I have bar owners waving at me when I walk down the steeet, I’ve had people shout em”bar”dery while I’ve been walking by bars. I’ve made incredible friendships through this and I can not wait to continue this series and I can’t wait to make so many more friends!
